Carter’s canon opens in January 2023 with another tweet decrying Bitcoin Maximalism. Asked by The Bugle why the falling out happened, he explained: “I have found a new hobby which is floating in the Dead Sea and tweeting mean things about mean people. The first time I did it, I think the salt got to me. Afterwards, I realized how much fun it was and embraced the salt” (Nic Carter Finds New Found Hobby). He credited the combination of being the saltiest Bitcoiner on Bitcoin Twitter while floating in the world’s saltiest body of water with effects both recreational and physiological.

The feud is symbiotic: Carter enjoys his salt, while accounts like @Coinicarus — who dubbed him “The Saltiest Sea Dog” — farm engagement by warning investors what he thinks of them, and dogpilers on his posts share a special camaraderie.
