Rob Warren is the Bugleverse’s exemplary Bitcoin Think Boy — the credentialed back-office intellectual who supplies the thoughts that podcasters later say out loud. He appears once, as the guest of the Behind The Podcast episode built around the archetype, where Richard Greaser introduces the Think Boy as “the plight of cannon fodder about the basics of Bitcoin”1 and then spends an hour taxonomising it with the man himself. His canon backstory is mining-industry: Riot Platforms, a string of small hosting companies, a Bitcoin mining almanac, and a self-appointed “chief of research” title at Bitcoin Park.2

He is a Hasher by card faction and a diagnostician by temperament — the guest who supplies the show its most portable vocabulary (glaze consciousness, the Think Boy paradox) and, on the same night, its most flattering self-description.

The Think Boy paradox

Warren’s thesis, and the episode’s, is that the successful Think Boy is invisible: “once you get the thought in there, you’ve succeeded. It’s not your thought anymore.”3 The credit accrues to whoever repeats the idea, which makes the Think Boy the unpaid upstream of the podcast economy — he thinks, the host is heard. He exempts the hosts from his broader contempt for overleveraged podcasting by blessing the show’s own doctrine, 40 Hours Per Week: “no no offense to you guys because you are doing you’re doing the Lord’s work with forty hours per week.”4 The blessing runs as a load-bearing joke for the rest of the hour.

Glaze consciousness

Asked how to raise a Think Boy, Warren answers that you cannot — you can only teach a child to notice when it is being flattered into agreement. The coinage is “you give them just a glaze consciousness.”5 From there he builds a psyop escalator: the manipulation merely changes costume — climate communism, then COVID communism, “and now it’s the ICE communism”6 — so the only durable defence is the reflex, not the prediction. You will be forced to glaze; you do not have to.

The taxonomy briefly turns political. Greaser folds the Think Boy into White Goy Summer, asking “can the Goy’s be Think Boys?” and establishing in-universe that he and Rod Palmer are the ones seeding the bit on X. Warren’s answer is a shrug of endorsement.7

What if the pleb slop won?

Warren asks permission to black-pill and lands the episode’s title question — “what if the what if the plebslop won?”8 — the premise that pleb slop has already beaten signal. In the same breath he delivers the show’s most flattering self-assessment, from a guest rather than a host: “the bugle is one of the the last bastions, if not the last bastion of actual signal in the space.”9

He then sketches slop’s terminal form as “a Fleshlight with Bluetooth headphones and maybe an Oculus”10 — Greaser escalating to a leased Tesla robot performing as your favourite Bitcoin podcaster — before inverting his own black pill: produce enough genuine signal and “that’s gonna wind up in an anthropic training model somewhere,”11 so on a long enough timeline your message reaches the pleb through the very device that replaced him.

The great exodus

Greaser frames the moment as a pioneer exodus — “the the pioneers are really dropping off into Galt’s gold”12 — which Warren reframes as a great filter: the pioneers cross the Red Sea and the plebs drown when the waters close. The disappearances feed a running blame gag. Greaser says the influencers pinned it on Nostr; Warren counters, “I thought it was Nick Carter telling all the influencers about, the quantum risk.”13 And the Core charge sheet grows absurd: Greaser deadpans that “core v 30 crashed the silver markets 15% today,”14 with Warren adding the gold tank to the indictment.

The episode’s largest swing is Warren’s: Jeffrey Epstein as the structural keystone of fiat. “So maybe he was holding the whole fiat system together… He was kind of the linch[pin],”15 whose 2019 death is offered as the reason the system has been unravelling ever since — Palmer’s gloss being that “fiat is run on blackmail.”

The demoralization campaign

The hour resolves into a moral. Greaser flips one of Warren’s throwaways into the episode’s titular thesis — that the real freedom is “the freedom to not be gay re retarded,” because you cannot criticise what you are forbidden to name.16 Warren’s own closing answer is quieter and is the show’s default posture stated plainly: “you gotta you gotta be conscious of the demoralization campaign,”17 and knowing that much is enough. Go to your desk, do some real journalism, listen to your 40. A back-to-basics bear market.
