@Coinicarus is a Bitcoin Twitter account and practicing engagement farmer, first documented working the anti-Nic Carter side of the maximalist feud.

In January 2023, Coinicarus garnered a great amount of engagement discouraging people from investing with Carter — whom the account dubbed “The Saltiest Sea Dog” — tweeting: “As a bitcoiner if you’re going to invest with nic you should know what he thinks of you” (Nic Carter Finds New Found Hobby). Per The Bugle’s analysis, the arrangement benefits both sides.

On the timeline

In the record proper, Coinicarus is less a subject than a fixture. The 25 logged items are, without exception, replies into his threads — the Bitcoin Twitter accounts (@bitcoin_bugle, [[characters/rod-palmer|@rodpalmerhodl]], and the gatekeeping @_podconf handle) turning up in his mentions across three years. The archive preserves only the Bugle’s half of the conversation, which is enough to establish that Coinicarus posts constantly, posts about everyone, and is treated as a peer engagement farmer rather than an opponent.

The whole feed

The relationship is stated plainly. Asked, apparently, whether he sees a lot of Coinicarus, the answer was total:

The banter tilts competitive but affectionate — “We all know the Bugle is numero uno” (@bitcoin_bugle, 2023-07-17) — and occasionally frames Coinicarus as a matchup in his own right, billed against a rival poster: “@Coinicarus vs @OptimistFields” (@bitcoin_bugle, 2024-03-27).

The Jim Cramer running gag

The earliest logged exchanges, from May 2023, run a two-part joke about an unnamed figure graduating to television:

The reference to Cramer is the inverse-indicator insult of choice on this timeline.

Henry’s note: “he” is unnamed in both tweets. Given the source article’s anti-Nic Carter framing, Carter is the likely referent, but the record does not name him — logged as inference, not fact.

Coinbase, and who saves it

Coinicarus’s threads are a standing venue for the exchange-and-shitcoin beat. In 2023 the reply was a rhetorical question — “Will Dennis Porter save Eth and Coinbase?” (@bitcoin_bugle, 2023-06-06) — and by 2026 it had hardened into a flat warning against exchange apologetics:

Armstrong recurs; Porter is credited as the original source of a claim in a later thread too (@bitcoin_bugle, 2024-08-14).

Ordinals people lives matter too

The darkest of the logged exchanges is a November 2023 back-and-forth over Udi Wertheimer and the Ordinals crowd, in which the Bugle plays the joke to its uncomfortable end:

By late 2024 the PODCONF® account had folded Coinicarus into its credentialing bit, both recruiting and rubber-stamping him:

The approval was reissued, verbatim and unexplained, in mid-2025 (@_podconf, 2025-06-12). The Nostr-UX running joke lands in his mentions as well: “any update on when they’re fixing the ux on nostr?” (@rodpalmerhodl, 2025-04-09).

Rod’s fortune cookies

Rod Palmer‘s contributions to Coinicarus’s threads are a distinct genre: the deadpan aphorism delivered as if it settles the matter.
