Nic Carter Finds New Found Hobby Floating in the Dead Sea, Tweeting About Bitcoin Maximalists

Richard Greaser covers Nic Carter‘s latest tweet decrying Bitcoin Maximalism, and the surprise felt by many at his falling out with a large subset of Bitcoin Twitter. Reached for comment, Carter explained the mechanism himself: “I have found a new hobby which is floating in the Dead Sea and tweeting mean things about mean people. The first time I did it, I think the salt got to me. Afterwards, I realized how much fun it was and embraced the salt.” He reported that being the saltiest Bitcoiner on Bitcoin Twitter while floating in the saltiest body of water in the world produced a physiological response he described without being asked.

The feud proved to be a great opportunity for engagement farming on the other side as well: @Coinicarus garnered significant engagement discouraging people from investing with “The Saltiest Sea Dog,” tweeting: “As a bitcoiner if you’re going to invest with nic you should know what he thinks of you.”

The article concludes that the infighting has benefitted both sides — Carter gets to enjoy his salt, and other individuals get to dogpile his posts together and share a special camaraderie.

This is the founding beat of Nic Carter vs. Bitcoin Twitter.

irl: Nic Carter is a real venture capitalist (Castle Island Ventures) whose January 2023 feud with Bitcoin maximalists over “toxic maximalism” was a genuine Bitcoin Twitter storyline; the quoted @Coinicarus tweet is real. The Dead Sea hobby is the Bugle’s contribution.
