The Bugleverse’s professional snitch: an independent journalist exposing shitcoiners, whose investigation format is a To Catch A Predator parody. He introduces himself in character in The Economy Is Still Fine: “Hi, my name is Pleditor. I’m an independent journalist exposing shitcoiners in the Bitcoin space.”1 The parody is where the ASR’s “predator” comes from.
He operates on Bitcoin Twitter rather than Nostr, issues purity tests, and is filed by the show alongside the progressive Bitcoiners. See Pledditor, Professional Snitch for the arc.
Not Matt Odell
Pledditor and Matt Odell are different people, and
the ASR conflates them constantly — both are grumps whose names get mangled, so
a name-match scan will merge them if it is allowed to. The aliases: above
exist to stop that.
The clearest separation is in Grumpy With A Cause
(Bugle Weekly 67), where
the name “Odell” is never spoken but the grumpy figure is named throughout — and
the episode’s own chapters.json spells him “Pleditor”. The passage that settles
it is the cop run: “ACAB, all cops are bastards. That includes Predator,”2
followed by “Pleader’s a cop”3 — a sustained snitch and fake-authority bit
that lands only for the man who phoned the Nashville police on the Taproot
Wizards. It has no reading in which it is about Odell.
Both are separately attested inside a single conversation in Pioneering V4V Music with Open Mike, where Odell is the grumpy Nostr base influencer and “Plutator” is the one “running around, issuing purity tests left and right.”

As told by the Bugle accounts
The transcripts give Pledditor his mission statement; the Bugleverse’s own X accounts — @bitcoin_bugle, @rodpalmerhodl and @GreaserRichard — are where the character actually lives, posted into being almost daily across 2024–2026. What follows is drawn from those posts. They are remarkably consistent: the same man, the same grievances, running for two years without a single day off. As Rod puts it, he “absolutely refuses to make friends.”4
The paper Bitcoin crusade
Pledditor’s defining beat is his war on paper Bitcoin — rehypothecation, custodial IOUs, and anyone he suspects of selling claims to coins they cannot produce. The Bugle frames every skirmish as breaking news. When Jack Mallers caught heat, the paper of record reported he “has upgraded to an even larger empty closet to appear more humble after rehypothecation controversy with Pledditor.”5
The crusade escalates until Pledditor is treated as a head of state. The Bugle files him entering talks with White House advisor David Bailey “to meet at Jekyll Island, Georgia to discuss a Paper Bitcoin Truce,”6 and later has BlackRock’s Larry Fink warning insiders that “Bitcoin influencers like Pledditor are the biggest threat to (paper) Bitcoin $IBIT.”7 By 2026 even his own tooling has defected: “Pledditor claims his AI agent went rogue and bought paper Bitcoin without his permission.”8 The paper Bitcoin bit is inseparable from him.
Purity tests and the grumpy-maxi bracket
The show’s second-favorite Pledditor mode is the purity test. He is seeded into a Matt Odell bracket — the Bugle’s “Grumpy Maxi Championship,” polling “Who is your favorite grumpy Bitcoin Maximalist?” between Odell, Pledditor and LAIH9 — and crowned its patron saint of gatekeeping:

The grumpiness has a diagnosis. Rod: “pledditor and many others are grumpy because bitcoin is making new highs but none of their friends and family have called to congratulate them.”10 It also has a foil — @GreaserRichard reports that “Nakamoto’s strategy in a nutshell is to do everything in their power to make Pledditor mad.”11 The pleb-slop verdict is absolute: “you will NEVER impress pledditor with your pleb slop.”12
The man who does not understand commerce
The richest running joke is that the Bitcoiner most obsessed with purity does not appear to grasp money. Rod’s foundational text has him as “a baby that never developed object permanence,” who “gets mad any time he sees a commercial because he doesn’t know about commerce.”13
The bit compounds: he is “a fiat maxi. he doesn’t view bitcoin as money. he thinks transactions involving bitcoin are ‘gifts’,”14 and — after some hapless promoted post — Rod thanks him “for explaining paid advertising to us all.”15
Receipts, dossiers, and the naughty list
His journalism, per the accounts, is surveillance. He keeps “confidential influencer dossiers,”16 “has already personally emailed this video to Gary Gensler,”17 and is durable enough that Santa reportedly retires Palantir in his favor — “Santa Will Use Pledditor’s ‘Naughty List’ During Christmas 2025 Instead of Palantir’s.”18 Rod keeps the vigil canonical with a clip of Pledditor “monitoring the situation for scams”:
Corruptibility, allegedly
The counter-bit is that the incorruptible snitch has a price, and it is denominated in Nintendo. The Bugle reports “Pledditor Was Paid $500 In Nintendo Store Points To Support Bitcoin Core,”19 and traces his feud with Fold to the fact “he couldn’t use $FLD to buy a Ninento [sic] Switch on the app.”20 To his credit, some lines hold: when “Epstein contacted Pledditor about a meme coin pre-sale opportunity … to nobody’s surprise, Pledditor wasn’t interested.”21
Henry’s note: across two years and three accounts, not one post reads him as Odell — the paper-Bitcoin obsession, the Nintendo running gag, and the To Catch A Predator snitch framing are Pledditor’s alone. He also earns the occasional cross-canon cameo: cast as Frodo in a Bitcoiner Lord of the Rings,22 and awarded “the J.D.
