Dieter Bob, the Anti-Influencer

The arc of Deeter Bob — the self-described Anti-Influencer, rendered “Dieter Bob” by the ASR in every episode that mentions him — is the Bugleverse’s longest-running study of a man who is disliked and load-bearing at the same time. He begins as a Bugle News subject with a product to sell, and ends up as something closer to infrastructure: a punchline the show reaches for reflexively, an oracle whose predictions are credited when the price falls, and a name invoked as a fixed point of Bitcoin history.

Who’s in it: Deeter Bob · Rod Palmer · Richard Greaser · Pledditor · Shinobi · Ross Ulbricht · American Hodl

The milk years

The first record of Bob is commercial. In May 2023 he launched the Thirsty Bitch Milk Company, a high-quality milk concern aimed squarely at influencers he judged to be thirsty for attention — American Hodl and Bitcoin TINA named among them.1 Hodl’s reply set the register the show would keep for years: “Dieter is just insecure about his penis size. Everyone knows that I won the debate with him and he just needs to shut up.”2

That December, Bugle News reported his capitulation — the birth of his son, Deater Bob Jr., announced after a seven-day hiatus from X that he attributed to Twitter jail.3

The standing insult

By late 2024 Bob no longer needs to be present to be the subject. The Bugle Podcast Listening Boot Camp ad in episode 30 detours mid-read into the show’s standing Bob insult — “Too bad Dieter isn’t here, so we could all see how small his erect penis is.”4 The gag surviving inside a sponsor read is how the Bugle signals an ad is in-house rather than sold. The cue is diarized as a single turn but plainly carries more than one voice, so the line’s author is not established.

The Shinobi mechanism

In March 2025 the show supplied the machinery behind one of Bob’s standing accusations. Rod Palmer explained the logic: “That’s why when Dieter Bob says that shinobis compromised, that’s what he means.”5 The reading had just been proposed by Greaser as a weapon — deploy Shinobi to advocate for a good privacy proposal and let his insults kill it. Bob’s charge, in this telling, is not that Shinobi is bought but that he is aimed. See storylines/shinobi-bits and storylines/core-vs-knots-war.

The anti-Ross front

At PODCONF in June 2025, Bob opened a front alongside Pledditor against Ross Ulbricht, at Ulbricht’s first conference as a free man: “people like Dieter and Plutator and others are calling him a shitcoiner and he hasn’t even announced a shitcoin.”6 The charge rested on nothing firmer than an appearance at a big shitcoin or energy event. Palmer’s read of the motive was that the pair simply want to be right when Ross inevitably shitcoins.

Canonized

A week later Bob turns up as scenery rather than antagonist: Palmer, picturing the retired rich-pleb life, lands on “relax by the pool, like Dieter, Bob.”7 The aspirational version of Bob and the insulted version coexist without comment — a habit the show never resolves.

By July 2025 he is history. Greaser reworks the Berlin Wall formula into Bugleverse canon: “I was here when American HODL debated Dieter Bob. I was here when Teddy Bitcoins won Maxi Madness”8 — the Hodl debate filed beside Teddy BitcoinsMaxi Madness win and the Saylor series drop as the monumental events you tell your kids about. The debate American Hodl claimed to have won in 2023 has become a landmark.

The oracle

The arc’s last beat promotes him to forecaster. Covering the pre-Thanksgiving run in December 2025, Palmer credits the preceding crash to a Bob prediction, then books the recovery as tactical cover for holiday arguments: “But one benefit we had, this week was that Bitcoin did pump from 80 to about 92 ks,”9 leaving relatives with no response. The man launched as a joke about thirst is, by the end of the record, cited on price. See storylines/holiday-specials.

Disputed

The seeded version of this page treated the December 2023 fatherhood announcement as the arc’s terminus — Bob capitulating and exiting. Bugle News did report it as a capitulation, and as “the most significant capitulation on Bitcoin X, to date.”3 The podcast record does not honour that ending: Bob is still the show’s reflexive punchline in October 2024,4 still prosecuting Shinobi in March 2025,5 and still being credited with correct price calls in December 2025.9 Either the capitulation was ideological rather than terminal, or it did not take. Nothing in the record adjudicates it.

  4. Bugle Weekly 30 @ 0:52. ASR “Dieter” for Deeter Bob. The cue is diarized as one speaker turn but opens “Now slow down there, Dennis” — i.e. someone interrupting Dennis Porter — so the speaker index does not identify who delivers the line. 2

  5. Bugle Weekly 51 @ 25:36. ASR “Dieter Bob”; the quote spans cues 1536 and 1538. Greaser proposes the tactic at 25:17, naming BIP 300 and “BIP three zero one”. 2

  6. Bugle Weekly 62 @ 29:34. ASR “Dieter” for Deeter Bob and “Plutator” for Pledditor; the pair is named again at 29:10 as “Dieter and Pleditor”.

  7. Bugle Weekly 63 @ 5:58. The comma in “like Dieter, Bob.” is an ASR artifact. In the same run Palmer plugs “Orange Pill Blues” as the grief stage of pleb death: “I wrote a song about that. It’s called the orange pill blues” (@ 6:18).

  8. Bugle Weekly 70 @ 14:05. ASR “Dieter Bob”. The preceding cue is “I was here when the Sailor series got dropped” — ASR for Saylor. American Hodl is a distinct person from characters/british-hodl and characters/rev-hodl and has no page yet, so he is named in plain text here.

  9. Bugle Weekly 87 @ 13:22. The prediction credit is at 13:17: “in the prices crashing, it brought it down as Dieter Bot predicted” — “Dieter Bot” is ASR for Deeter Bob. 2
