Purity tests (July 2026)

Bugle Weekly 116 names Bailey’s serial purity-test failures a law of nature — as predictable as sunrise — with Michael Saylor tagged as the next inevitable failure. The riff opens with a callout of his ongoing feud with Justin Bechler: “you look at the battle happening between Justin Belcher and David Bailey… I don’t know if there’s a purity test he hasn’t failed this year.”1 (“Justin Belcher” is ASR for Justin Bechler.) The Bugleverse accounts keep the counter running. By mid-2026 the tally had been formalized into a metric: Bechler is credited with announcing that Bailey “Has Broken A Record of 742 Purity Tests So Far In 2026,” coinciding with a “Pleb Approval Rating” collapse “From 15% to 4.9%.”2 The feud is mostly one-directional theater — Bailey needling, Bechler cataloguing. When Bailey issued a public challenge to his tormentor, the accounts framed it as a combat waiver: “David Bailey Challenges Justin Bechler To ‘Sign The Waiver.’”3

The purity discourse eventually curdled into the “married his mom” bit, a recurring accusation the accounts attribute to Bechler and to Fred Krueger alike:

It was allegedly serious enough to draw hardware from the Pledditor faction: “justin bechler and pledditor are preparing a pleb slop wells notice.”4

irl: David Bailey is a real person — CEO of BTC Inc / Bitcoin Magazine, organizer of the Bitcoin conference, and a self-described crypto advisor in Trump’s orbit. Everything below is the satire accounts’ treatment of that figure; the real-world scaffolding is noted here only so the two don’t blur.

Paper Bitcoin and the Four Horsemen

Bailey’s dominant frame is financial: the accounts cast him as an impresario of Paper Bitcoin, seated among the “Four Horsemen of Paper Bitcoin Stocks” alongside Michael Saylor, Jack Mallers and Dylan LeClair.5 See bits/four-horsemen.

The bags are treated as a public hazard. The recurring joke is that losing money to Bailey is itself the product:

His corporate maneuvers get the same skeptical newswire treatment — the alleged NAKA acquisition of Bitcoin Inc is reported as a promise of “Another Paper Bitcoin Summer,” with “Twitter Spaces Analysts Skeptical.”6

The Pledditor war and the Jekyll Island truce

Against the Paper Bitcoin empire stands Pledditor, the accounts’ designated antagonist. The @bitcoin_bugle staged a summit: “White House Bitcoin Advisor David Bailey and Pledditor have reportedly entered negotiations to meet at Jekyll Island, Georgia to discuss a Paper Bitcoin Truce” — the 1910 central-banking conspiracy site chosen with intent.7

The war is presented as unwinnable for the opposition:

Jestermaxxing and the pleb wars

By 2026 the accounts’ governing term for Bailey’s mode is jestermaxxing — antagonizing his own retail following for sport. The newswire ran it as a criminal matter: “Plebs charge David Bailey with felony jestermaxxing for using them as exit liquidity to splurge on a private cobbler.”8

@rodpalmerhodl supplied the moral gravity, and @GreaserRichard the villainy:

The bit reached its logical endpoint with a headline announcing the antagonism as policy: “David Bailey Announces He Will Be Arguing With Plebs In Spaces Daily Until He Gets His Company Back On Track.”9

Pepe, the aesthetic conversion

A distinct strand mourns Bailey’s effect on culture rather than portfolios. The most-shared example is @rodpalmerhodl’s image post charging him with corrupting the mascot of the movement:

Trump, the White House, and Person of the Year

The accounts track Bailey’s ascent into Trumpworld with a mix of horror and resignation. He is styled “The President’s ‘Crypto Guy’” and named — per the newswire — @TIME “‘Person of the Year’ for 2025.”10

The proximity to power is the joke’s engine: leaked “texts with President Trump,” a “Leaked Memo” moving the conference to Gaza because “David Bailey tells me ‘Bitcoin fixes this’ multiple times per day,”11 and a plaintive appeal from the peanut gallery:

Buckle up

The final recurring bit is a catchphrase. Bailey’s real-world habit of teasing imminent announcements is flattened by the accounts into a single tic — the “buckle up” post — treated as a weather event:

The @bitcoin_bugle even localized it, rendering his message to a Bitcoin Asia audience in Hong Kong as “系好安全带!” — buckle up.12 Earlier, the same energy earned him the epithet:
