Character

Opti

Opti — short for Optimist Fields — is the cohost of Simply Bitcoin and a self-made e-girl. Like host Nico, Opti’s principal documented fear is that Bitcoin’s victory over fiat will end the best job either of them has ever had.

Arc history

Opti’s canon opens in January 2023 on Simply Bitcoin’s daily Spaces, weighing in on the show’s post-hyperbitcoinization succession planning: “I have put my heart and soul into becoming an e-girl, and it’s difficult to think about doing anything else.” Thinking, per The Bugle, with low time preference about the future, Opti continued: “Maybe I can do something normal like settling down with a girl and having a family one day. I almost don’t want Bitcoin to succeed because I love my job so much” (Simply Bitcoin Discusses Future Rebrand).

irl: Opti is the real cohost of Simply Bitcoin; the e-girl bit is his own long-running joke.

Under the full name he surfaces as a recurring drive-by target. Rod blames his on-air raspiness on “swap[ping] some spit with miss Hidalnott” — MsHodlnaut420 — at a BTC Sessions party, “and Optimist Fields” moments later.1 He is the punchline of a running music feud: hearing that Noa Gruman‘s choir Hellscore covered Linkin Park’s “In The End,” Richard notes “Optimus Fields would have lost his mind.”2 And he is folded into the pleb-slop machinery — Richard pictures him doing his morning routine before he “squeeze[s] some slop on simply Bitcoin.”3
