Mr. Monopoly is the mustachioed Hasbro board-game mascot and, as of June 2024, the face of the United States $100 bill, replacing Benjamin Franklin. He is the only known figure on US currency whose prior work was also money that isn’t real.

Arc history

His elevation was announced by Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen in January 2023 as part of a joint Hasbro–Treasury marketing campaign to keep the youth interested in the dollar and away from cryptocurrencies (Mr. Monopoly to Replace Benjamin Franklin On $100 Bill). Hasbro was subsequently rumored to be working with the World Economic Forum on designs for other state currencies. It is a key visual of the defense of the dollar.
