Burns entered the canon in March 2023, when critics questioned how Jason Lowery had come out of nowhere to dominate Bitcoin Twitter. His response — an official CIA press release stating “All of Jason’s engagement on social media is organic. He’s just a bright boy” — settled the matter to nobody’s satisfaction and advanced the Softwar rollout (CIA Director Insists Jason Lowery’s Engagement Is Organic). His agency’s institutional priorities were separately reported as “convincing the American people to bankrupt themselves in order to prolong the war in Ukraine,” Bitcoin disruption being off the docket for now.
