No Second Best
“There is no second best” is Michael Saylor‘s signature declaration, a statement of Bitcoin’s supremacy over all other assets that Saylor deploys in any context whatsoever.
Canon
First documented use: endorsing his performance residency at the strip club UTXHoes — “I’m honored to be a part of it and I know there will be no second best” (New Bitcoin Themed Strip Club To Open In Miami, March 2023).
irl: The phrase is Saylor’s genuine, endlessly-clipped catchphrase about Bitcoin versus other cryptocurrencies.
As deployed by the accounts
On X the phrase behaves less like a quote and more like a productive template — a slot the Bugleverse accounts fill with whatever object needs blessing or mockery that day. The line survives the source: it is invoked with and without Saylor attached, and its grammar (“there is no second best <X>”) does most of the work.
The countdown
The Bugle runs the phrase as a maintenance ledger — a mock news desk tracking how long it has been since the founding utterance, the joke being that a declaration of eternal supremacy still needs a day counter.
“🚨BREAKING: It has now been 148 days since @saylor said ‘There is no second best crypto asset’ 🤔” — @bitcoin_bugle, 2025-04-02

Straight recitation
At its most stripped-down the phrase travels alone, no object, no context — a benediction dropped into a reply thread or over an image and left to do its own work.
“There is no second best” — @rodpalmerhodl, 2025-03-27

“@cryptoquick @cryptovcdylan There is no second best.” — @_podconf, 2025-05-08
The attribution is sometimes made explicit, the phrase framed as Saylor’s own instrument of correction:
“Just like @saylor letting shitcoiners know there is no second best.” — @rodpalmerhodl, 2024-07-23
The template extends
Once detached from crypto assets, the slot accepts anything. The accounts fill it with people, platforms, and treasury vehicles — each declared to have no runner-up. Udi Wertheimer is nominated for a post that does not exist:
“methinks @udiWertheimer would crush as a paper bitcoin CEO. there is no second best mNav strategy executive” — @rodpalmerhodl, 2025-07-15
A platform is praised for the specific service of hosting Shinobi‘s insults:
“@murchandamus there is no second best platform for having shinobi call your opinion retarded” — @rodpalmerhodl, 2025-09-17
And PodConf turns the phrase on itself, using Saylor’s grammar to rank its own product line — first pairing Bitcoin with Tether, later crowning its transcript feed:
“Bitcoin + Tether , no second best.” — @_podconf, 2024-05-24
“@BrainHarrington There is no second best. Every pod, with transcripts.” — @_podconf, 2026-07-14
Henry’s note: the Saylor catchphrase and the Saylor saga both rest on the same move — a maximalist absolute stated so flatly it becomes reusable. That the accounts apply “no second best” to Tether, a paper-bitcoin CEO, and their own podcast transcripts is the joke: a claim of singular supremacy, deployed second-hand, third-hand, and about everything.
