+**40 HPW** is the [[media/the-bugle-weekly|Bugle]]'s in-house merchandise line: the
+retail wing of the [[memes/40hpw|forty-hours-per-week]] doctrine, sold through the
+[[sponsors/orange-label|OrangeLabel]] store and read into the show as its own
+recurring sponsor. Where the meme is the obligation — forty hours of Bitcoin
+podcasts a week — the 40 HPW line is the thing you wear to prove you meet it. The
+[[storylines/40-hours-per-week|arc]] runs from a t-shirt to a full uniform to a
+franchise with its own programming.

+## The launch (2025)
+
+The line debuts in [[episodes/40-hours-per-week-bugle-weekly-episode-45|Episode 45]]
+not as apparel but as a cigarette pack — "the not Marlboro pack" — in "the Silk
+Road edition commemorating Ross being freed,"[^launch] tying the merch to
+[[characters/ross-ulbricht|Ross Ulbricht]]'s pardon and to the show's standing
+cigarette-money lore. [[characters/richard-greaser|Greaser]] directs listeners to
+the storefront and promises the link in the show notes.[^launch]

+The pitch that arrives with it is that wearing the merch is a political act.
+Greaser's setup is that "if you wear Nike clothing, you change the world, but it's
+in a negative way. You support child slavery"; the 40 HPW alternative inverts it —
+"you're supporting the intellectual Silk Road. You're you're actually undermining
+PodCon."[^political] A shirt thereby enlists the buyer into the Bugle's two

+of credentialism" — a Harvard t-shirt no longer signals anything now that "you can
+just get a print shop from China to put Harvard law school on the t shirt," so the

+## The flagship line
+

+Greaser ranks it above its sibling product: "I I would say the flagship clothing
+line that the Beagle has right now is the 40 HPW"[^flagship] — "Beagle" being the
+ASR's standing mangle of Bugle. He concedes the [[sponsors/comply-clothing-line|Comply
+line]] "is still stellar" but needs a revamp; the 40 HPW line, by contrast, sells
+itself. [[characters/rod-palmer|Rod]] reports wearing it in Nashville to demand for
+a plain, "big prominent 40 HPW logo" shirt "from people who don't even know what it
+means," a SKU now stocked in answer.[^flagship] The merch reads position it as
+conference camouflage: Greaser pitches "the 40 HPW line and the compliant line" as
+"some of the best ways" to "stand out in a crowd full of simps" at

+## The uniform
+
+Off the conference floor the shirt is sold as public-safety infrastructure. Worn
+at the airport or a family gathering it functions as a beacon: to a half-awake
+normie who "might be an MPC," the wearer is instructed to "Say something if you
+don't have the t shirt. Let them know it's a safe space."[^safe] Rod forecasts the
+garment — paired with big headphones, blue-blockers and toe shoes — becoming "the
+new Patagonia shirt" at Home Depot.[^safe] In its declarative form it is armour: "I
+don't have time to waste and I don't waste time. I'm a 40 per week guy,"[^guy] a
+statement Greaser says is the first thing a shitcoiner sees at a meetup, and enough

+## The doctrine as product
+
+The line's advertising sells the ideology as a course of treatment. A produced PSA
+styled as a drug-addiction spot prescribes the show's central number as clinical
+medicine — "All it takes is listening to forty hours of Bitcoin podcasts per week
+to stabilize their time preference" — offered as the cure for meme-coin gambling
+and, in the same list of symptoms, "being brainwashed by the CIA."[^psa] A later ad
+in [[episodes/pioneers-frame-the-conversation-bugle-weekly-episode-79|Episode 79]]
+gives the full three-part remedy: "The credentialed experts suggest for him to
+either start listening to forty hours of bitcoin podcasts a week, start his own
