+> *Henry's note: listed because the universe keeps mentioning them — US Representative. This entry fills out as Henry replays episodes and news.*
    +
    +## On the timeline
    +
+Off the podcast, Massie exists mostly as a fixation of [[characters/rod-palmer|Rod Palmer]] (`@rodpalmerhodl`), who has appointed himself the universe's designated Massie realist. The bit is durable: plebs are forever certain the Congressman is one election away from the presidency, and Palmer is forever there to short the position. Two other Bugleverse accounts — `@GreaserRichard` and the [[characters/henry|Bugle]]'s own `@bitcoin_bugle` — chime in around the edges.
    +
+> irl: Thomas Massie is a real US Representative for Kentucky's 4th district, known for a libertarian, anti-war, pro-Bitcoin record. In the Bugleverse that record is refracted into the archetype of the noble perennial loser.
    +
    +### The 2028 dark-horse question
    +
+The recurring argument is electoral: how far can Massie actually go? Palmer's answer never moves off zero.
    +
+> its so funny to me that people actually believe thomas massie would even finish in the top three of a GOP presidential primary
    +> — [@rodpalmerhodl, 2025-07-08](https://x.com/rodpalmerhodl/status/1942601632266518697)
    +
+> if anyone tells you thomas massie is a "dark horse" in 2028 tell them to put their money where their pleb slop is
    +> — [@rodpalmerhodl, 2026-05-26](https://x.com/rodpalmerhodl/status/2059096884866609359)
    +
+The "pleb slop" tell is deliberate — Palmer reaches for the house vocabulary when he wants to frame belief in Massie as a devotional error rather than a political forecast. He extends the same logic into an investment thesis:
    +
+> easiest way to make money is by betting against thomas massie supporters in prediction markets
    +> — [@rodpalmerhodl, 2026-05-26](https://x.com/rodpalmerhodl/status/2059093461735817571)
    +
+> thomas massie will have plebs voting harder than political scientists ever believed possible just to win zero states in the GOP primary
    +> — [@rodpalmerhodl, 2026-05-19](https://x.com/rodpalmerhodl/status/2056880945123180893)
    +
    +### The lost election
    +
+In May 2026 the running joke acquired an actual result: Massie lost. The Bugleverse rendered the defeat as a loss to [[characters/benjamin-netanyahu|Bibi]], folding it into the wider Iran-war arc.
    +
+> bibi defeated thomas massie today but now thomas massie can run for president in a few years with even more moral victories on his resume
    +> — [@rodpalmerhodl, 2026-05-20](https://x.com/rodpalmerhodl/status/2056919199851680177)
    +
+Palmer's prescription for the aftermath is characteristically merciless:
    +
+> thomas massie shouldn't take any time off to relax, reflect, or go on vacation. he should get right back to work losing another election.
    +> — [@rodpalmerhodl, 2026-05-20](https://x.com/rodpalmerhodl/status/2057155594864177612)
    +
+`@GreaserRichard` works the same defeat from the day-job angle:
    +
+> I'm glad that Thomas Massie is about to have to get a real job
    +> — [@GreaserRichard, 2026-05-20](https://x.com/GreaserRichard/status/2056918028336431279)
    +
+> I find it pretty comical that Gen X voted Thomas Massie out
    +> — [@GreaserRichard, 2026-05-20](https://x.com/GreaserRichard/status/2057068405430039023)
    +
+The Bugle newsdesk covered the concession itself, tying the loss back to the [[characters/benjamin-netanyahu|Tel Aviv]] bombing storyline running the same week:
    +
+> BREAKING: Thomas Massie was late to his own concession speech because he was watching "Boom Boom Tel Aviv."
    +> — [@bitcoin_bugle, 2026-05-20](https://x.com/bitcoin_bugle/status/2056930145789739145)
    +
    +![](/tweets/2056930145789739145-0.jpg)
    +
    +### Pleb devotion, in memes
    +
+The counter-current — genuine pleb reverence — is documented mainly in media. Palmer's "GOAT" and "disrespect" reaction posts play the fandom straight enough that the sincerity and the mockery become hard to separate, which is the joke.
    +
+> should plebs be allowed to vote for thomas massie?
    +> — [@rodpalmerhodl, 2026-05-19](https://x.com/rodpalmerhodl/status/2056877120068977086)

    +
    +![](/tweets/2059717085962330609-0.jpg)
    +
+The devotion has an apostate, too — one Ed Gallrein, cast as the man plebs regret voting for instead:
    +
    +<video controls preload="none" poster="/tweets/2056923671646572913-poster.jpg" src="/tweets/2056923671646572913.mp4" style="width:100%;max-width:620px;border-radius:10px;display:block;margin:.5rem 0;"></video>
    +
    +### Bugle dispatches
    +
+When the newsdesk voice takes over, Massie is inverted into a threat-of-the-week — the same "two weeks away" boilerplate the Bugle aims at Iran, pointed instead at a Kentucky Congressman:
    +
+> JUST IN: US intelligence officials say Thomas Massie is two weeks away from having a nuclear bomb.
    +> — [@rodpalmerhodl, 2026-05-23](https://x.com/rodpalmerhodl/status/2058229460537647217)
    +
+> thomas massie was in congress for 14 years and all he accomplished was increasing the national debt by $22.7 trillion
    +> — [@rodpalmerhodl, 2026-05-21](https://x.com/rodpalmerhodl/status/2057271161919074378)
    +
+And the contrarian's ultimate flex is to reject the whole [[characters/dave-smith|Dave Smith]]–Massie libertarian package outright:
    +
+> have fun circle jerk virtue signaling with dave smith and thomas massie i'm running a neocon node
    +> — [@rodpalmerhodl, 2026-03-08](https://x.com/rodpalmerhodl/status/2030711437585264906)
