+**Merrick Garland** is the Attorney General of the United States and the prosecutorial arm of [[storylines/defense-of-the-dollar|the defense of the dollar]]. His jurisprudence holds that monetary education is a threat to the monetary system's foundation — a position he states without apparent awareness of what it concedes.

+Garland announced the arrest of [[characters/g-edward-griffin|G. Edward Griffin]] in January 2023, explaining that Griffin's "attempts to educate the public on the way the monetary system works in unacceptable and is a danger to its foundation," and that the DOJ was "partnering with the Treasury Department to prevent further erosion of public trust." He cited Griffin's book [[media/the-creature-from-jekyll-island|The Creature from Jekyll Island]] as the main catalyst and warned that other educators are at risk of prosecution.
